Ourclasses meet on Wednesdays with the following schedule:
5:30-6:00 PM, Dinner: optional meal, open to the congregation. Menu is posted in the announcements and sign-up is encouraged by the Tuesday before.
6:00-7:30 PM, Chapel & Class: We begin our time together in Word and prayer. Then, we split into our classes to dig into our learning.
In this class the students are introduced to their "tools" of the faith: the Bible and the Small Catechism. They will use the Growing in Faith Story Bible, which contains 125 narratives with illustrations. They will also use My First Catechism. The goal of the class is to help students become more aware of the story of faith and to begin laying the groundwork of doctrine by memorizing the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, and the Lord's Prayer and will aquatint themselves with Baptism, Confession, and the Lord's Supper.
In this class the students will build on their knowledge of faith as they receive the Growing in Faith Bible, which adds the entire text of Scripture with the narratives from the The Growing in Faith Story Bible from Foundations I, as well as character profiles and other study tools. They will be given a workbook for My First Catechism as they begin to explore the meanings of doctrine. The goal of this class is to get them to start moving deeper into studying the faith by beginning to ask questions about Scripture and memorizing the explications to the Ten Commandments, the Apostle's Creed, and the Lord's Prayer, Baptism, Confession, and the Lord's Supper.
In this class the students will take a more in depth look at the Scriptures. They will use their Growing in Faith Bible and a Bible Overview curriculum. They will also receive the 2017 Edition of the Small Catechism. The goal of this class is to get them to start them into studying Scripture as they discus the Bible itself and then take a look at the different "units" of Scripture. They will also review their doctrine.
In this class the students will take a more in depth look at how the doctrine of Scripture summarized in the Small Catechism applies to their everyday lives as they prepare themselves to take responsibility for themselves in the continued learning and studying of the faith.
